Santur Zither
The greek Santour
You may found a greek santur in "three" size type, "five" and "seven" type santour. It is used in orchestras, both in Asia Minor and Greece. In the beginning without Contra Bass and gradually evolved over the years.
In the workshop
In our workshop, we make all the sizes of the greek santur. We also make the "five" size type santour – the classic greek instrument studying by the students in the Greek music schools in our country and is the same one that Aristeides Moschos had.
The Greek zither is composed of woods fir, maple and walnut cladding. The bottom is a complex construction of fir. The heels (chocks) are maple plywood glued. The cap is spruce. The strings are bronze phosphate. The bass strings are made here in the workshop, made from hexagonal steel and copper in various sizes. It starts from the Sol Contra Bass note, and ends with the Si, total of 3 and half octaves area.
Here we always have tuned and finished santours for anyone who is interested to listen.
Incomplete santur
Here we make the string. Here we wrap the copper using various tools. We make everything on our own so that we know what we do.
